Backup Rollback

Hi,

The site has had some severe problems and I’m very sorry for the difficulties you may have had in reaching it. I’ve been able to more or less salvage SOME of the content, but it’s possible the entire backlog of blog entries are gone for good. I’ve been able to put up the current strip but not the old/previous ones. I’m going to try and get them back up ASAP. In the meantime, I apologize for the ugliness and sloppiness of the content. I’ll do my best to fix this ASAP.

  1. Well, Heather’s behaviour is pretty ugly. I don’t need to see the sloppy part. ^^;

As for the rest of the difficulties — not your fault, right? ^^ If any of your fans start ranting about it, remind them of that.

  2. Ok, he is only safe until she has her orgasm, then the fun really begins (but not for him)

  3. That’s a bummer, what happened to the site?
Can your ISP retreive the lost data?

    1. I’m not entirely sure what happened. Out of nowhere, without an update, the main page showed up blank. The ISP suggested it might be a WordPress Theme issue and asked me to deactivate one that appeared problematic. And it went tragically downhill from there. Because this wasn’t an ISP issue but something internal to the page, it’s not something I could reasonably ask them help for, so I’ve worked on it myself.

To make a long story short, I used something called ComicPress to manage the strips, but ComicPress is no longer being supported and on its way out. The new thing is Comic Easel, which is the layout you now see. For some reason, however, the posts & comics from the past are all gone and I’m not sure how to get them back. I’ve still got them somewhere, but I’m not looking forward to re-entering hundreds of them.

So that’s where I am now. I’m very annoyed at the ugliness this causes and hope to fix it in the near future.

      1. LFGcomic has been hit by something similar

      2. Why you should always back up your database, not just the originals. 🙁

      3. Maybe the import messed up? The content should still be in the DB.

        1. That’s what I’m thinking and the reason I’m getting an expert to look at it. It’s a bit beyond my own skills.

  4. Best of luck getting it sorted out.

  5. Ouch you have my sympathies, been through something like that with a hard drive burnout and no physical backup. I only got a few things back thanks to a friend having a copy of a few files I sent, but that was 6 years of data lost.

Glad you still have it all somewhere.

Ah Heather you and your priorities. I feel rather sorry for the lurker.

    1. > Ah Heather you and your priorities. I feel rather sorry for the lurker.

Don’t be. Somehow Jaycee and Wondollar hit the nail on the head as far as I am concerned — bringing a sexy woman to climax can be very emotionally satisfying. I trust the Lurker will not complain about this treatment, for two reasons:

      1) He seems to idolize the princess (either being oblivious to her personality or seeing something in her that the rest of us don’t. I really hope that it’s the later and he will be able to bring out the spark of decency that she had hidden so deeply; but it may be that he only sees an idealized version of Heather, which can hurt — badly — if and when he realizes his mistake). So, he would not presume to proposition her himself for fear of offending her. Being “forced” to do what he really hoped to is a perfect way out of this situation.

      2) It can be great fun keeping your partner on the edge for as long as she can take it. The problem is, it demands a lot of precision and attention so an oral (or a manual) technique helps minimize distraction.

That said, Heather was somewhat mean to him so I do hope that he will make her beg before he gives her release.

It was a most enjoyable arc so far (yes, I know that I am not objective, but still). My only regret is that we didn’t get to see Marie-on-Marie action. Imagine what a sexual partner can do to you when she knows your body far better than you do…

      Peace,
      Lurker.

      1. Really hoping Heather throws this old fart to the guards when she is finished (unless your name is ‘Errol Flynn’ or {damnit, what was the name of that other famous swashbuckling pirate from that time? something Douglas Jr?} you deserve to die for having a moustache like that)

        1. Yeah this is what I mean about feeling somewhat sorry for him. Heather is a selfish lover once she gets what she’s wants that’s it. It’s sad to see that happen to someone who actually likes her as we’ve seen happen before.

        2. That’s the thing, all we know so far about this guy is that he is Heathers stalker, we have yet to really see what kind he is

Oh, and the name was looking for was Douglas Fairbanks Jr

        3. I agree, Syn, most likely Heather considers him as nothing more than the masturbatory aid du jour; and, as much as he may appreciate the situation at this moment, there’s only heartbreak for him unless he gets over his crush on her.

If we assume that the Lurker will not become a permanent recurring character, he will need some kind of closure when things are wrapped up for him. Obviously, I’d like him to leave the stage on a high note (that’s me, always the optimist) so let’s consider the possibilities.

Firstly, we’d need to know why he reverted back to male form. Was it the faerie’s doing, the potion’s effect running out or the result of Heather’s, his or both of their wishes (time for another faerie-mirror dialog?) If it’s the later, it means that the potion is still working, either for a time or perhaps even permanently, and the remaining question is who controls it. Otherwise, he’s back to his mundane life.

So, the options that I see are:
          1) Potion effect gone, still pining for Heather, back to being a loser — worst one, hope it won’t happen.
          2) Potion effect gone, gets over Heather, maybe hooks up with some nice palace (or visiting) woman — good closure.
          3) Potion effect gone, still pining for Heather, fairy takes pity (like that ever happens) and zaps him with a semi-beneficial “curse” that allows him to turn his life for the better.
          4) Potion effect active, controlled solely by others, potential for more misadventures (running into Baby with her fixation on “big salamis” could be a hoot)
          5) Potion effect active, may be controlled by self, gets a self confidence boost, goes off to explore possibilities.

Or, we could get more creative… Like:
          6) Fairy decides to adopt him, turns him into another fairy, he curses Heather (hell, why not? she’s got to be used to it by now) and flies off to start his own nest/infestation/whatever?
          7) The universe burps, the Lurker is actually Cthulhu who wakes up, devours the castle and is only defeated by the combined effort of all the world’s fairies, that perish in the process. THE END.

I trust that Jaycee already knows how this will end but speculating is fun 🙂

          Peace,
          Lurker.

  6. So what is the problem? Did you lose the strips themselves, or merely would need loads of work to re-import them? That isn’t clear from your post.

Obviously, the former is a severe issue, although us readers can help (WayBack for old stuff, google cache and our own browser caches for new); the latter is a trivial matter of scripting for quite a few of us.

    1. No, I haven’t lost the strips themselves–they’re backed up in multiple locations as well as on Wondollar’s hard drive. So the real trouble is deeper, but I’ve enlisted the assistance of an expert who will, hopefully, be able to sort this out in the next 48 hours or so. In the meantime, I’ll just enter the strips one at a time on the day they are to be released. It’s not GREAT, but we’ll survive this.

  7. There were a few comic sites that were hacked at the same time.
Scott Kurtz at PvP talks about it at his comic site.

    Dave

    1. Yeah, it hasn’t escaped my mind that this could be a possibility…

  8. I take it still no luck with figuring it all out?
