As for the sex change, I believe that you have hit the proverbial nail on the head. If Crystal gives in, there goes her control. The primary problem I see is that we have two fairies who could be working at cross purposes. Previously, Crystal’s directions were more explicit. The command of “super attractive” is open to way too much subjective interpretation. Marie could end up as practically anyone or anything. Has there been an instance in the strip where two fairies cast conflicting spells at the same time?
I dont really think there she will become male, since the fairy did acknowledge it has to be a MAID, I think that implies FEMALE (english is not my native, so i could be wrong).
BUT, it would be interesting to see if this rebounds in any way, since, well, you know, the faeries know that she is not NICE.
You are correct in the assumption that maid implies female. a butler is the male equivalent. I also agree that something is going to go seriously wrong but for a different reason. The wizard/sorceress cast a spell on her that removed the fairy magic a few strips ago and i’m thinking there’s some lingering effects that will cause the fairies’ magic to cancel out the enthrallment caused by whatever it is about crystal that gets them to do whatever she says.

The Housekeeper can be considered to be of equivalent rank, but then the former is in charge of the male servants, and the latter is in charge of the female servants (and in the vast majority of cases a woman herself).

It may just be my wish to infuse some deeper thought into a very silly strip but in my mind I would want to see NO CHANGE AT ALL as she is already an attractive person, especially on the inside where is counts.
That would just stop everyone in their tracks and make them think about it.
