Bloomin’ Faeries! #359

  1. Who knew they made dresses out of such stretchy material? Or does that just come with the curse?

    1. Was also hoping for more skin.

  2. Totally called it!

    1. But was wrong about who could trigger the BE

    2. Indeed you did. That was very annoying. 🙂

      “I’m doing it.”

      1. Don’t intend to be annoying, but always end up annoying someone 🙁

  3. Is there like an archive or something so people who have been away for awhile can easily find where they left off?

    1. I used to have a little widget that allowed you to bookmark where you were at, and go back there when you came back, but it became glitchy so I removed it.

I can’t do archives, it would also display members-only content. (Obviously I can’t have that…)

      “I’m doing it.”

      1. haha retard.

      2. Oh, you do have archives, sort of, if you use the calendar (although not sure if it’s just this machine, but the comics for those days didn’t show up even as thumbnails, but will try again later)

Doesn’t this have Chapters? Or ‘Arcs’? Might it be possible to put a link to the start of the Arc? Like this one started when Crystal showed up

      3. I use Comic Rocket to track most of my comics, it’s very handy to keep track of pages. I noticed that it says Bloomin’ Fairies asked to not be listed there. If you don’t mind, can you explain the reasoning for that? Bloomin’ Fairies is the only comic I read that I have to manually log into to check for updates.

    2. The best thing I’ve found is to have a bookmarks folder names ‘comics’.

When you stop reading just bookmark your current page into there and you’ll always have where you were last at, no matter when you return.

      1. It wasn’t for me, it was for someone who use to read, but then their computer glitched and they forgot about this webic, until recently and they didn’t want (or maybe have the time) to read through everything to get back to where they left off

  4. semi called it, lol. I bet the fairy upset, lol.

    1. And bad things happen when faeries get upset…

      –Jaycee
      “I’m doing it.”

      1. It is funny, it between, wanted BE to happen, and maybe not letting that fairy get her way… even if she was wrong, hehe. How dare you make us choose not to want BE, lol.

  5. I think Crystal was worried she was about to explode for a moment, there….

  6. Well you know, he did all those things for himself, She still sent him away to be locked up because he wasn’t looking at her.

    1. No, because he wouldn’t kiss her

  7. Oh for the love of….

  8. Crystal is a (narratively) terrible and boring character who has derailed this comic and makes me not want to renew my (lapsed) membership or even come back here to check for the weekly update.

For weeks now (months?) we’ve been following her along on this narrative cul-de-sac, while we’re repeatedly hit on the head about how she can do no wrong (even when she does) and are told by the story and the characters that she is absolutely perfect in every way and we should all love her.

This plot has been dragged out for so long that no narrative pay-off can be good enough to make this painful distraction worth while.

    She is Cousin Oliver/Scrappy Doo/.

She is a parasite. A Usurper. She is that obnoxious child at a social event who craves everyone’s attention and disrupts the event to make the whole thing about her.

Remember that plot with the spider cave? Or Thane? Or the maid? Or the wizard? Or any of the other far more interesting characters that existed before Crystal arrived on the scene? Apparently not, because none of them have been relevant for ages.

Hell, we might as well change the name from “Bloomin’ Faeries!” to “Crystal’s Dull, Pointless Neverending Bullshit Parade” because that’s what it’s turned into.

    1. so…you don`t enjoy this arc, so you stopped paying (which is fine) and now you`re upset about getting what`s free?

    2. > Crystal is a (narratively) terrible and boring character who […] can do no wrong (even when she does)

      I know, isn’t she great?

Although now that she no longer has two faeries under her thrall, I must admit that my interest in her wanes.

      > Remember that plot with the spider cave?

      *Raises hand*

      > Hell, we might as well change the name from “Bloomin’ Faeries!” to “Crystal’s Dull, Pointless Neverending Bullshit Parade” because that’s what it’s turned into.

Nah, the arc itself is not bad. The problem is that with only one update per week, it is moving too slowly. It would have been fine if BF updated as often as, say, EGS (which publishes a full 7/8-panel page plus a 3-panel strip 3 times a week — 5 times the content and nobody complains about the “expositions”).

      1. This arc it self is terrible.

Sure it has all the same characters in the same places acting the same way … except around a new character… that is the worst poison i have ever met.

your story is a comedy of errors but the problem with crystal her main error is that she has no errors and never will, she is a self insert Mary sue unworthy to even be mentioned other then her name as a curse. .

I remember I would laugh for hours rereading your material thinking man I am so jealous. What happened?

I believe you’ve built up crystal as some godhead Mary Jane level ass hat before you brought her in.

which can be funny. I mean the better some one is the more their fall will humanize them.

i thought the pay off may indeed be great! I remembered when baby wept for losing her “hunny bunz” I font know how you did it but I actually felt for her.

but your progress has slowed to a crawl, slap stick isn’t funny when done slowly.

your story has become tortuously slow.

I still referred my Friends to this comic, I am still wanting them to enjoy it and support your efforts.

I had and still do want there to be a good pay off.

however Ii do not see one that does not involve a complete destruction.

If the character does not become a contributing factor in the shenagains and we are forced to continue to endure this character for what I must assume is your poor attempt at flatterer of a person (who you are trying to get it on with) then it must be assumed ( in the least by I) you do not care for this comic and community you have grown.

I apologize if you find my assumptions to be painful.

Your pain is a sign of how much you like this comic and how much the truth really hurts. This goes double for you patrons.

I have often looked forward each week to read about the wizards silly shenanigans, the sister and the princesses body swap.

both of these arcs had quick pace and even when there was down time the plot moved forward.

I would suggest that perhaps if you have allot to do with this arc you post 2-3 pages of it an update.

In order to by pass it.

I don’t hate the arc it is however more suited to a romance novel a novel closer to love and war, not a smutty tart of a imaginary tale( the best kind!).

filler no matter what flavor will always be filler and never be a suitable main course.

thank you for your time, for your deliberte attention to detail and your stories, please be at peace and enjoy yourself and if need be start crystal her own comic.

        Grom. D . Dandylion.

  9. Anti-climax.

    1. Actually, I predict it is actually a red herring. I suspect either the faeries will do something big, or someone who really hates her more will show up. Or both at once. Like Heather showing up and the faeries making her 20-feet tall.

  10. Keep up the good work welcoming creator at least a few of.us are looking forward to where your going with this

  11. Paraphrasing Nadia: “You did a horrible thing to me for a trivial and petty reason! But through my own hard work and skill I made it work out for me in the end, so I guess it’s all ok.”

Really? You can visibly see her hatred of Crystal fade away.

I have no other way to express this: That’s just bad writing.

    1. The way I read it, Aidan figured he was a spoiled child and would have grown up a dysfunctional adult had he not been forced to develop character, and his resentment toward Crystal was for being forced to do things that men of his social class were expected to do (go to school, join the army).

      Cut Jaycee some slack.

      1. Yups, not sure about him being a spoilt child, but the fact he was hanging around royalty kinda implies his parents were at least on good standing with the King and Queen

And yeah, this sort of thing does happen: at first they are resentful (like Nadia started out acting), but then when they truly look at what they have been through and become, they lose the resentment and become grateful (even if the result wasn’t what the other person had originally intended)

      2. He was a child, or at least a young man. I’ll cut him some slack for not being a many-thewed successful warrior at that age. Also, the sons of nobility had many other options other than joining the military. Look at his crime: Being more attracted to one young lady over another. That’s something every one of us can claim as a ‘crime,’ and probably many times over, allowing for the replacement of pronouns. There’s zero justification for his being kidnapped and ‘disappeared’ for that.

So yeah, Aidan gets cut a lot of slack. The author? Not so much.

    2. I think the huge boobs reminded Nadia of all the other huge boobs and sie was too busy thinking about boobs to remember to hate Crystal, because boobs.

Also there was something about boobs.

  12. It’s true then, every dark cloud has a silver lining. 😉

    1. Nah, more like a Crystal lining 😛

  13. well that was anti-climatic. was kinda hoping for something comical not boobs inflate for a few panels only for them to reset hopfully something more entertaining will happen next time.

    1. Not everything has to be bad to be entertaining

      1. But occasionally things are bad and not entertaining at the same time.

  14. … and there’s the swerve.

    1. A swerve some of us saw coming a mile away: Nadia would not be the woman she is today, if not for what happened to Aidan all those years ago

      1. You continue to miss the point. Just because a person makes the best out of a horrible situation does not in any way mean that they have to forgive the person who inflicted that horrible situation on them.

Would you ask a rape victim who managed to pull herself together after her ordeal and went on to found a successful rape crisis center to forgive and forget in the same manner? I would hope not, and yet this is an apt analogy for what happened to Aidan.
“Oh, I guess getting raped wasn’t all that bad after all, just look at all the good I’ve been able to do because that happened to me!”
        Yeah, right. PUKE

        1. And you are missing the point: Nadia has forgiven Crystal

Not everything has to be compared to rape, truly sorry if that is what happened to you

        2. And you are missing the point: When panel one reads (in part) “You ruined my life!” and panel 5 reads “Maybe I owe you some thanks after all,” that is textbook poor writing. People don’t go from full out rage for a past injustice to thanks for the same deed within the span of 5 seconds.

Not everything has to be compared to rape, that was an analogy for kidnapping, press ganging, and long term interment with a forced labor component. I felt it was an apt analogy because while rape is physically over in a short period of time the mental scars can last a lifetime and are similar to those suffered by people who serve long term prison sentences. And in Aidan’s case it was a long term prison sentence for a ‘crime’ he did not commit.

        3. > And you are missing the point: When panel one reads (in part) “You ruined my life!” and panel 5 reads “Maybe I owe you some thanks after all,” that is textbook poor writing. People don’t go from full out rage for a past injustice to thanks for the same deed within the span of 5 seconds.

This happens all the time on “The Simpsons”.

BF is a sitcom, not a drama.

        4. No, it was a short prison sentence, prisoners in those days did not go to school (most serfs didn’t either), nor join the army and get to bang hot chicks
If it wasn’t for Crystal, he could have ended up just. like. Prince Albert: a spoilt royal brat, and a minor royalty at best

  15. Eh. Just wait. Someone else will come along who hates her. There isn’t any shortage of those.

    1. Shortage, no, but the options are thinning out, little by little. We’ve already put Crystal up against the mirror, and found that she and Marie actually liked each other, so who else that we know would have known her all those years ago that might still harbor lingering resentment? Don’t think Thane’s a local, and the thief whose pants he stole even less likely. Gus might have started out in this kingdom before his life’s story arc brought him circling back.

Has she come face to face with the sorcerer yet?

      1. Hmm, she hasn’t spoken to herself yet either.
