The TwitterSphere is ablaze with debate on the new EARN IT Legislation that’s being proposed. I don’t know (yet) how much of a dog I have in this race, but it looks like it would take things one step further in making the USA a dystopian police state. While it’s stated goal is to fight child pornography, it could have immense repercussion on your right for privacy (although it’s possible you can trust your government not to abuse its powers).

Whatever your initial reaction, I would urge you to set aside the misinformation you’ll get from social media and read the proposed bill for yourself. It’s here:

Sure, it’s a bit of legalese, but if you make that a standard practice in your life, you’ll be less dependent on the media to form your own educated opinion.

Those of you who contributed to the reboot of Bloomin’ Faeries! will appreciate this bit of news: I finally got the money.

Obviously, I was able to restart BF without these funds, but they couldn’t have come at a better time. The last few years have been more challenging than usual financially, and I’ve been in an unusual struggle to make ends meet. I haven’t needed money this badly in well over a decade, and it was enough to motivate to make one last push to get the money from Indiegogo.

And to be clear, none of it is IG’s fault. They held on to the money until I was able to provide the correct banking info for an international wire transfer. It’s just that getting that info was always complicated. I’d call my bank, get the info, hung up, and tried entering it. There was always a problem, some bit of data that didn’t fit what they needed. This time, I filled in the details with my bank rep on the phone, and when it didn’t work, we worked it out right away.

So long story short, a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the campaign. Know that your efforts are a big help in my life right now.

After a few initial hiccups, my shop is now working, and I can start selling stuff you might like. For starters, the complete Bloomin’ Faeries! archive (from the first Sir Thane story by RR Pennell to #409, before the hiatus) is now available.

Not long ago, I activated part of the Patreon plugin that allowed posts from Patreon to be created here on the site as well. I thought it might provide an interesting extra for people who visited the site, but in hindsight, I think it’s mostly spammy. In addition, the plugin didn’t work very well–I always had to trigger the transfer manually, which was tedious and made the plugin kind of useless.

So I decided to remove all this this morning, and that’s that. It didn’t seem like it was particularly useful to anyone, so I doubt it’ll be missed.

This is probably a creepy question, and I suppose it’s one that’s going to sound pretty dumb to 50% of the population, but seeing as I’m in the process of writing a story featuring a female character, I gotta ask.

This question is largely directed at the few women who took a wrong turn on the internet and ended up as part of the audience (and trust me, we’re glad to have you, it’s just I can’t wrap my brain around why you’d like it here). If there are men who can shed some insight or know sites that do, however, feel free to chime in.

How does it feel to you when you get horny? What are the physical reactions you experience, from mild arousal to mind-numbing, gotta-fuck-right-now super-lust?

Like (I suppose) many of my gender, I feel I should know this as an adult, but I don’t seem to run into any man who’s actually had the candid conversation with women. And it’s not something I talk about with other men. As guys, we punch each other on the arm, in the face, or in the balls, or we talk about how we “destroyed” this or that chick with our amazing penises (he says, tongue FIRMLY in cheek). But we don’t talk to women about the erotic sensations that come with being a woman.

It’s been a quiet few months, eh?

Let me start with an apology. I’m sorry that I’ve been silent for these past few months. I left my day job last summer in the hope of becoming a full-time writer, and by February, I came to the conclusion that it just wasn’t going to happen. March and April were largely spent wallowing in shameful misery, then a quest for new employment. This quest is completed now and I’m in the process of relocating myself and the faeries to my original hometown of Montreal.

What happened to the Indiegogo campaign?

The bad news is that the money never came through. Indiegogo’s customer service never responded to my queries, so I waited in vain for some kind of explanation.

The good news is that I fulfilled the rewards for those that purchased them, and will be producing the next three comics out of my own pocket. The first one (#410) is already or, and I’ll be working with Wondollar on producing the next two at a rate of one a month.

What about the Patreon campaign?

I had a target of $500 per comic before resuming a weekly schedule. We’re at half of that at the moment, but I’m thinking of starting production on a monthly basis for now, and increase the frequency as the contributions go up. Perhaps having strips out on a regular basis will help build momentum. With #411 and #412 already covered by the Indiegogo campaign, this would mean the first Patreon-sponsored strip would come out on September 1 of this year.

So that’s the latest news. Hope you’re not all too upset with me.
