So… The pages of Autumn/Busty telling the story to the other fairy happens sometime after the actual story? I’ve a weird feeling that that whole ‘arc’ is going to end with the other fairy learning that she was Crystal or something like that… But, that’s just a theory I’ve had since back when it was revealed that Crystal could get her wings back.
Personally don’t believe Attitude and Crystal are the same faerie, daughter maybe (if that is how you get new faeries, can’t remember, fairly sure it was mentioned somewhere, probably as a comment rather than in the actual story)
That’s possible too, and is something I thought about after posting my comment. It could go either way, but the main thing being that Attitude and Crystal are related somehow. Weather it’s Attitude is Crystal reborn, or Crystal’s daughter, only time will tell us.
Personally, I think it’s that Attitude is Crystal reborn, but because of some mishap that happened/happens when Crystal got her wings back, now has Amnesia, and that’s why Autumn is telling her this story, because it’s HER story. You know, like what most normal people would do for someone with Amnesia. Especially when that someone is very close.
I’d say that the fact that Attitude was blonde at first, before dying her hair black for what ever reason, much like how Crystal is blonde as further proof… but that could be proof that Attitude is Crystal’s daughter too, so it doesn’t really count…
With writers I like, I often have TEENY nitpicks. Pratchett is one. He kept having crossbowmen “fire” their crossbows when that’s a command from the matchlock musket days. They’d “shoot” or “loose” their crossbows. It’s a teeny thing, like a spot of red paint on a white wall.

A faerie, a being of the air who is never truly bound to the Earth, wouldn’t say “run!”. Crying “fly!” or “flee!” would be more appropriate.
I debated using “fly” instead of “run,” and was concerned that it wouldn’t be as easily understood, even in the context. Let’s just assume that in faerie language, there’s a word that means both fly and run, and it was “translated” like this for the purpose of the human audience. 🙂
Perfect! I’ll now always assume it’s a translation from fae. Pratchett doesn’t have that option, though 😉

Sure he did. Morporkian isn’t English, its an English analogue, so any dialog in Morporkian is a translation. Although this may seem to be a nitpick of your nitpick, there was a time or two in his books where he made this clear.
Yeah but, the command to release an arrow or bolt is always “loose” or “shoot”. The command “fire” was basically “add fire to the touch hole to set off the powder charge”. It’s only a matter of chance that the word “match” or “touch” wasn’t used.

actually, do not forget that flame/fire was available to archers as well. I’m pretty certain they made pitch and flaming arrows…
