Though my face was squashed against the hood of my car and I was looking the other way, I knew Minx and Attitude were looking at me through the windshield.
“My poor Jaycee,” Minx said, “he’s going to get hurt.” She paused, thinking for a moment. “Again,” she added.
Attitude shrugged. “Serves him right.”
“Attitude,” Minx pleaded, “you have to help him out!”
“I really don’t,” Attitude said, shaking her head. “It’s bad enough you shared your name with him, so now he’s mostly immune to my spells, but to ACTUALLY help him? I don’t think so.”
Minx hugged the older faerie, resting her head on her shoulder and giving her her best puppy eyes. “B-but… for me? PLEAAAASE?”
Attitude sighed. “All right, but there’s one condition.”
Minx nodded rapidly. “Anything,” she said.
“You use his phone to record this.”
Minx flew over and carried my phone, which was obviously a bit heavy for her.
“Sure,” she said, “but why?”
“Because,” Attitude said with a predatory grin, “what I have in mind will make a great post on his web page.”
“Oh… okay.”
Attitude flew out the window and stood above the female officer.
“As for YOU, Miss Ladycop, you have one of the most stuck-up auras I’ve read in a long time.” She cracked her knuckles, ready to get to work. “Let’s fix that.”
