I can completely understand, this is definitely a departure from the standard, all-in-good-fun meanness that Heather displayed in the first few years of the strip. Crystal certainly hits a few of *my* buttons (though I must admit she’s helluva fun to write).
Mere text cannot fully express my dislike towards Crystal’s bitchiness. Luckily, a common theme of Fae tales is poetic justice, retribution, punishment for crimes both real and perceived. When Crystal’s punishment comes, and come it shall, it shall be all the sweeter for her spiteful attitude. Remember there’s a yellow fairy lurking about as well.
Given that she is observably clever, appears to be quite ruthless and now has two Faerie slaves, I expect that day to be quite a while off in the future…
Two nuns were powerless against his curse. Not that being a nun is any real indication of sexual innocence, but the nuns of Cathol in our universe are supposed to be chaste, and the Cathol worshipers in our universe are supposed to refrain from sex before marriage. Both of which, if they are mandates which are adhered to, make for virgin nuns*.
* Married nuns and married priests are possible, according to what I have been told by members of the Cathol clergy, but are rare as hen’s teeth.
This is one of those times where I wish BF would update more than once a week, so we can fast-forward a bit to when Crystal finally gets a karmic bitchslap. Sadly I could imagine this plotline being strung out quite a while just to make sure we really hate her. I’m contemplating abandoning the strip for a while and coming back in a few months so I can read a bunch of pages at once.
