#410 – One Year Later

  1. It’s wonderful to see a new comic up on the website and I hope that you can come to some sort of a resolution with indiegogo. I hate so see you get ripped off. Bloomin Faeries was one of my favorite comics and I can’t express how happy I am to see it back.

I’m wondering if it’s possible to put up at least a few of the more recent comics from before the time you shut down? It’s been a long time since I read them and it would be nice to refresh myself a bit on where the plot was at that time.

    1. Regarding Indiegogo, I didn’t get into the gritty of it, but the fact I didn’t get the money doesn’t mean they didn’t try to send it. There are terminology differences between Canadian and American banks, and I was never able to speak with someone at IG to confirm I had sent the correct info. It’s possible that someone somewhere in Canada got a surprise bonus. ?

As for the backlog, it’s one of the rewards for the Patreon backers, so it may be a while before I make it public again.

  4. You might want to consider contacting the Canadian Anti Fraud Center about not getting your funds. Not being able to reach them at their phone number and not having them respond to your e-mails sounds pretty fishy to me.

About withholding the backlog for the Patreon backers, it would seem to me that it’s going to be difficult to attract new readers if they aren’t able to get at least some of the backstory of the current comic. You’re already delaying the new comics and there are a number of other comics that apparently successfully fund themselves through Patreon in this manner.

    1. Re: Indiegogo: as I’ve been telling numerous people, it’s not a huge deal to me since I don’t need the money that badly (being employed), but I may ping them again just to give it one last try. I have a lot of other priorities on my plate at the moment, so I need to move on.

Re: backlog. There’s two parts to this: 1) I’m resetting the story one year in the future and will gradually reintroduce characters and storyline as if it was a fresh start. 2) I won’t betray the backers and give for free a reward that they are paying for. At the end of the day, if the comic is financially viable, the size of the audience doesn’t really matter to me. I accept it will probably never return to its peak numbers, and that’s okay.

      1. for indie, even if the money isnt something you don’t need currently as badly, you should be able to get what is yours.

        1. I’ve invested some time trying to follow-up with them, but there has never been a response. I did poke them again a few days back. If they answer, great, but there’s a point after which pursuing this is going to cost me more time than the money is worth. The only reason I’m even entertaining this is because I feel bad that the backers got cheated, not because I need or want the money. (The backers did get their rewards, but their intent to support me was not fulfilled, which is a shame.)
