The problem there might be that if the light source is an illusion then what you see with it might not be real.
If a light source gives off light then it’s not an illusion… an illusionary light source is one you THINK gives off light.
It’s therefore quite likely that this imaginary light source will illuminate imaginary things.
Maybe you could use an illusion of a light to light up a pathway that is actually open air over a chasm.
